VISA 413. SCULPTURE III.<br />

This is an advanced 3-D course that expects sculpture students to find<br />

a more complex interpretation of space, material, and subject. Personal<br />

expression is stressed. A sculpture materials fee will be charged.<br />

Prerequisite: VISA 313. Competency: Critical Thinking. Offered every<br />

other year.<br />

VISA 415. CERAMICS III.<br />

Students will continue developing their skills as a potter. More complex<br />

work is expected. A strong focus will be on a student’s personal<br />

direction and creative expression using clay. A studio fee will be<br />

charged. Prerequisite: VISA 315. Competency: Critical Thinking. Offered<br />

every other year.<br />

VISA 416. PRINTMAKING III.<br />

This course is allows a student to choose any one of the four traditional<br />

printmaking techniques and explore more advanced techniques<br />

using that medium. Digital print technology will be explored and used<br />

to create mixed-method fine art prints. A studio fee will be charged.<br />

Prerequisites: VISA 216 and VISA 316. Competency: Critical Thinking.<br />

Offered every other year.<br />

VISA 417. GRAPHIC DESIGN III.<br />

This is an advanced computer-based graphics course emphasizing realworld<br />

assignments. Class structure will more closely resemble on-thejob<br />

working situations in advertising or commercial graphics companies.<br />

A fee to cover the cost of printer ink will be charged. Prerequisites:<br />

VISA 317. Competency: Critical Thinking. Offered every year.<br />

VISA 430. ART HISTORY RESEARCH.<br />

This course gives upper level students an opportunity to continue their<br />

study of art history as well as other art-related subjects. Students meet<br />

with the instructor to define a topic, then to have their research monitored.<br />

At the conclusion of the course students must submit a research<br />

paper covering the topic outlined. Prerequisites: the successful completion<br />

of two 300 level VISA courses, approval from the Chair of the Department<br />

and the instructor. Offered on demand.<br />

VISA 440. SPECIAL STUDIO PROBLEMS.<br />

This course is designed for art students who have taken all courses<br />

offered in a particular medium and want to continue with their work<br />

and exploration. Assignments will be independent studio projects designed<br />

by the student and approved by the instructor. May be repeated
