On your bike!
Thank you from Client Manager Dave Fitzgerald
whose son in law Mike Cotton was one of three REME
Warrant Officers who undertook the challenge to
cycle all the 20 Premiership Football Grounds in one week.
Setting out from Newcastle the team achieved the target
travelling 620 miles to arrive at Spurs Ground in time to be
invited into the Directors box to watch the final game of
the season versus Birmingham City.
In addition to the £500 pounds generously donated by
Clancy Docwra, staff in Sunderland, Brentford and
Harefield donated a further £752. To date over
£15,000 has been raised for the Army Benevolent
Fund which supports many military charities.
On Sunday 25th September, a team from Clancy
Docwra Rail based in Brentford were among 60
contractors and LUL staff who “Cycled the
Circle Line” for MacMillan Cancer Support.
The event followed the 15 mile route of the London
Underground Circle Line, passing all the stations and
iconic landmarks such as the Tower of London,
Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament,
they also passed the Albert Hall twice as they missed
a turning and had to turn round.
A Clancy Docwra donation of £500 was
complemented by £885 raised by staff
in Brentford and Harefield. Thank you
to all who took part and donated, with
the total raised by the event exceeding
£13,500.
B
uyer, James McLaughlin, also mounted his bike for The
British Heart Foundation Charity, seeing him
cycle 60 miles from the Trafford Centre
Manchester to the Blackpool Tower.
James decided to take on this challenge after
his grandad passed away from a heart attack
in 2010. James said “I hope by raising money for
the BHF charity it may save someone else’s grandad in the
future or go on to help someone’s family member trying to
recover from a heart attack.”
