Children’s Programme
We have a variety of activities for a variety of ages, including
concerts, sing-alongs, crafts, and science demos. Do Mentos
really make Diet Coke explode? What would you put in Crazy
Hair? Would you like to create an entire costume, and wear
it in the masquerade? What can you do with liquid nitrogen?
What’s your favorite book, movie, or TV show? Or you can
sit back, read, play with some toys, and just make some new
friends from around the world! For more information, contact

International Awards
Are you involved with your country’s national SF award, and
interested in bringing your award to a wider audience? We’re
putting together an International Awards Spotlight, currently
planned for the afternoon of Friday, August 7 th . Contact us at

The Academic Track
The Academic Track at Anticipation 2009 is an academic
conference in the midst of the larger Worldcon gathering, a
place for presenting academic work to a larger audience.
Academic sessions, including two sessions devoted to Frenchlanguage
scholarship, will feature papers on theorizing science
fiction and fantasy, on the beginnings of sf in earlier centuries,
on speculations of the future of the field, and on literature, film,
graphic novels, and gaming. The papers will cover a range of
texts and authors, including (but not limited to) H. G. Wells, Philip
K. Dick, Sherri S. Tepper, Nalo Hopkinson, Greg Egan, Alan
Moore, Geoff Ryman, War of the Worlds, Blade Runner, The
Lawnmower Man, Fallout 3, Torchwood, etc.
The Academic Track is particularly honoured to announce that
John Robert Colombo, editor of Other Canadas (1979), the first-

Prix internationaux
Etes-vous un organisateur du prix national de SF de votre pays, et
intéressé à faire connaître ce prix à un plus grand public? Nous
organisons un Plein Feux sur les Prix Internationaux, actuellement
prévu pour l’après-midi du vendredi, 7 août. Contactez-nous à

Piste Académique
La Piste Académique d’Anticipation 2009 est une conférence
au sein du contexte plus large de la Worldcon, un espace pour
présenter des travaux de nature académique à une vaste audience.
Les sessions académiques, incluant deux d?entre elles dédiées aux
érudits francophones, mettront en vedette des articles sur l’aspect
théorique de la science fiction et du fantastique, sur les débuts de la
SF il y a des siècles, sur l’anticipation du futur du domaine et sur la
littérature, les films, les romans graphiques et les jeux de rôle.
Les articles couvriront un vaste éventail de textes et d?auteurs,
y compris, en autres, H.G. Wells, Philip K. Dick, Sherri S. Tepper,
Nalo Hopkinson, Greg Egan, Alan Moore, Geoff Ryman, La
guerre des mondes, Blade Runner, The Lawnmower Man, Fallout
3, Torchwood, etc. La Piste Académique est particulièrement
honorée d’annoncer que John Robert Colombo, éditeur de
Other Canadas (1979), la toute première anthologie de science
fiction et fantastique canadiens, sera Premier Orateur. D’autres
sessions sur la spécificité canadienne suivront, de même que des
