attract 2.29 million visitors and induce KRW660 billion
worth of production and KRW360 billion worth
of added value by: touting the scientifically proven
efficacies of ginseng, emphasizing the excellent quality
of the product, and showing the great potential for
commercialization of ginseng in life sciences.
Six exhibition pavilions will be arranged by themes
such as Life & Energy, Goryeo Ginseng, 4-D, and
Bio Industry Exchange. In the 4-D Pavilion, visitors
can see a 10-minute video that explains the mysteries
of ginseng using four-dimensional and stereophonic
sound effects. The Life & Energy Pavilion will offer
its visitors a chance to experience ginseng therapy
and aesthetics, as well as to sample ginseng foods. It
is designed to demonstrate the great potential of ginseng
as a bio-product. The Bio Industry Exchange
Pavilion will be furnished with new ginseng products
made by 78 companies at home and abroad. With the
aim of pioneering the overseas markets, the international
ginseng trade exhibition will be held from
September 19 to 23. The overseas buyers who attend it
will be invited to participate in trade meeting sessions.
In addition, the International Ginseng Symposium
will take place from September 21 to 23. Some 800
people including experts, entrepreneurs, and researchers
from Korea and other countries will attend
an academic conference and a policy forum organized
during the symposium.

The “2011 World Ginseng Expo Geumsan,”
a huge international ginseng event, will be
held in Geumsan in Chuncheongnam-do for
32 days from September 2 to October 3.
This is the second ginseng expo after it was first
held in 2006. This time, the event will take place under
the theme of “Ginseng, the Root of Life: the
Harmony of Ginseng, Nature, and Life Sciences.”
Geumsan in Chuncheongnam-do is the place where
Goryeo (Korean) ginseng originated. More than 70
percent of the total amount of ginseng that is distributed

some 1.9 million visitors, the first international ginseng
expo brought the county USD$22 million worth
of export contracts and KRW300 billion worth of direct
