“Whole Grain Snack”
No Artificial AdditivesProduct Safety Assured
A Healthy Snack for People around the World
As safe, healthy foods rise as an issue
around the world, more and more people
are turning their attention to whole grain
snacks.
MAMMOS Confectionery Co., Ltd. is a leading
Korean producer of grain snacks and candy.
Established in 1985, the company is proud of its 25
years of experience in manufacturing whole grain
snacks.
The company’s President, Shin Sung-bum, emphasizes
that they “produce snacks in accordance with
the company’s spirit of making safe and healthy food,
with hope and confidence.”
The whole grain (rice, wheat, and corn) snacks of
MAMMOS are made in high temperatures and under
high pressure. Most of the rice snacks are stickshaped
and are at least 80 percent rice. They are not
fried with oil, so they are free of trans fat and gluten.
Anyone can enjoy these snacks and not worry about
allergies.
MAMMOS also offers consumers unique products
such as “Cereal Bar,” which is made with red ginseng
and citrus, and uses white, brown, and black rice.
The machine that forms the snacks in the shape of
long round sticks is patented (10-0328477) and represents
just one out of the many technologies that are
the power of the company.
The biggest advantage of grain snacks produced by
MAMMOS is safety. Normally, snacks include artificial
additives such as antioxidants, synthetic preservatives
and pigments, but MAMMOS does not use any
of these.
According to Mr. Shin, “the food safety problem is
a chronic headache of the growing world snack industry.
Even if a manufacturer uses a small, permitted
amount of artificial additives, the product could cause
someone a problem. Thus snacks should be made
safe for everyone, so that even a small baby could enjoy
them!”
In addition to rice and other grain snacks, MAM-
MOS produces candies and cookies. Especially large
are its variety of candies made of rice, ginseng, red
ginseng, citrus, citron, and green tea.
The products are distributed all over the world - in
Japan, the United States and other countries - under
the “Friend” brand name and under the names of big
companies using OEM contracts. These snacks can
be found on the shelves of Costco and Whole Food
Market in the U.S. and Daiso in Japan. For two years
they have been exported to Russia and are very popular
there.
Tofu Snack, presented in March at FOODEX
Japan 2011, will definitely become the company’s
next hit. The great taste of this crispy snack made
mainly of tofu gathered a large number of FOODEX
visitors to the company’s booth.
Mr. Shin is confident “MAMMOS will modernize
traditional Korean snacks and introduce them to consumers
around the world. We are working on localizing
the products and expanding our markets.”
