Indiana International and Comparative Law<br />

Review Symposium Marks 25th Anniversary<br />

On February 12, the Indiana International and Comparative Law Review (IICLR) hosted<br />

its annual symposium followed by a celebration in honor of the publication’s 25th anniversary.<br />

This year’s topic, “Is 2015 the Beginning<br />

of the End for the ICC and<br />

Guantanamo Bay, or a Turning Point<br />

for the Law and Practice of International<br />

Criminal Law?” was examined<br />

through remarks by keynote<br />

speaker Professor Bartram Brown,<br />

Professor of Law and Co-director<br />

of the Program in International and<br />

Comparative Law at IIT Chicago-<br />

Kent College of Law. Discussion continued<br />

through two panels. The first<br />

panel examined “The Rome Statute:<br />

Opportunities and Challenges<br />

in Enforcement” and featured IU<br />

McKinney Law Professor Yvonne<br />

Dutton, as well as professor Stuart<br />

Ford, of the John Marshall Law<br />

School, and practitioner Avril Rua<br />

Pitt, LL.M. ‘11. The second panel discussed<br />

“International Criminal Law<br />

and its Influence, If Any, on the U.S.<br />

Military Commissions at Guantanamo<br />

Bay and other Domestic<br />

Tribunals” and featured Assistant<br />

Professor of Law Chris Jenks,<br />

Director of the Criminal Justice<br />

Clinic at SMU Dedman School of<br />

Law; Professor Shahram Dana,<br />

John Marshall Law School; and<br />

practitioner Richard Kammen of<br />

Kammen & Moudy in Indianapolis.<br />
