The Livewell Plate
The University of Aberdeen, in partnership
with the World Wildlife Foundation (WWF),
have developed what they call the Livewell
Plate – a diet that is both healthy and
environmentally friendly.
The Livewell Plate recommend over a third of
our diet should be fruit and vegetables and
another third should be starchy foods like
potatoes, pasta or rice. The last third should
be split between treats, milk and dairy foods,
and protein-rich foods like beans, eggs, fish
and meat.
Research shows that many
of us eat much more meat
than is good for our health,
our planet and our wallet.
By eating a little less meat and dairy, and
bulking out our diet with more vegetables and
whole grains, researchers believe we can be
healthier, environmentally friendly and save
some money in the process.
