SERVICE COMMISSION<br />
Overview<br />
The Service Commission provides<br />
parishioners with opportunities to put our faith in<br />
Christ into action by helping others. We support<br />
Cathedral ministries, as well as other Baltimore area<br />
ministries, and encourage parishioners to become<br />
published Service Directory to see the scope of<br />
parishioner efforts. To learn more about our<br />

Service Directory<br />
Kudos to Meghan Cosgrove and members<br />
of the Service Commission for the fabulous<br />
job they did in compiling The Cathedral<br />
Service Directory! It’s a wonderful resource<br />
for everyone who wishes to make a difference<br />
in the lives of others by volunteering. There<br />
is something for everyone – adults, students,<br />
and families!<br />
The Directory contains descriptions of 13<br />
Cathedral Service Outreach Programs and<br />
59 outside Community Service Agencies<br />
and Volunteer Outreach Opportunities,<br />
organized under specific headings in the<br />
Table of Contents. Each listing contains<br />
pertinent information such as time<br />
commitments, age minimums, responsibilities,<br />
locations, and contact information.<br />

numerous volunteer opportunities available, such as<br />
the Adopt-a-Family Program, the Gabriel Network,<br />
the Haiti Parish Partnership, the Cathedral Food<br />
Program, CARES, and Our Daily Bread<br />
Employment Center. A few are highlighted in<br />
these pages, but pick up a copy of our newly<br />
The Directory offers a tremendous variety<br />
of programs from which to choose. Some<br />
offer one-time service opportunities, while<br />
others require regular weekly or monthly<br />
commitments. You’ll find the chance to coach<br />
children’s soccer, provide transportation for<br />
those who don’t drive, visit and/or organize<br />
activities for the elderly, make casseroles, knit,<br />
donate to the needy, teach adults how to read,<br />
work at a homeless shelter, assist at a blood<br />
drive – the list goes on. This amazing<br />
document is a testimony to the excellent outreach<br />
efforts of our wonderful parishioners in service to<br />
others!<br />
