Dear Friends,
What an exciting and wonderful year this has been at our Cathedral of Mary
Our Queen Parish & School – and this Yearbook is a great way to look back with
satisfaction, pride, and gratitude to God for all that has unfolded in our lives
together this past pastoral season!
What a varied season of events we recall --- the Church throughout the
world began a special “Year of Faith,” prayerfully bid farewell to Pope Benedict
XVI as he concluded his ministry as Pope and greeted the election of our new Holy
Father, Pope Francis I, as our Chief Shepherd. Our School welcomed our new
Principal, Dr. Jane Towery and also hosted a special visit by our new Archbishop
William E. Lori. Our parish made much ministry happen as we focused our
energies on Education, Evangelization, Service, Stewardship, and Worship while
initiating a Strategic Planning Process for our Parish and School --- so much activity
in the name of the Lord which these pages help us to remember!
And, of course, we celebrated with all of Baltimore “purple Fridays” and a
Ravens Super Bowl victory!
As much as we enjoy looking back on another great year, we do so in order
that we can be inspired to keep looking forward and anticipating a new year ahead of us, filled with new
opportunities for continued growth and development.
The words of Pope Benedict XVI in his final public remarks at his General Audience of February 27,
2013 certainly encourage us as we “focus forward” on serving the mission the Lord has entrusted to us:
“I would like to invite everyone to renew firm trust in the Lord. I would like that we all entrust
ourselves as children to the arms of God, and rest assured that those arms support us and to walk every
day, even in times of struggle. I would like everyone to feel loved by the God who gave His Son for us
and showed us His boundless love. I want everyone to feel the joy of being Christian.”
Sincerely yours in Christ,
