STEWARDSHIP COMMISSION
Overview
The Stewardship Commission facilitates
the sustainable use of the Cathedral’s resources to
help bring Christ to life in our
community. Members identify, analyze, and
recommend strategies to develop long-term, quality
pastoral ministries, programs and activities by
encouraging our community to live the Gospel
message of stewardship: the giving of time, talent,
and treasure.
Among their many roles, Commission
members assist in the financial management of our
parish and the physical preservation of its buildings
and grounds. Their area of influence includes the
Facilities and Maintenance Committee, the
Development Committee, the Preservation Trust,
Legacy Giving, and the Finance Committee. They
are actively involved in our parish’s budgeting and
planning work, as well as diocesan appeal efforts.
This year, the Stewardship Commission
partnered with the Vocations Committee to
promote the Cathedral’s Vocation Awareness
program. They helped launch the highly-popular
Traveling Chalice program to promote awareness of
our need for priests and other consecrated religious
men and women to carry on the work of our parish.

Capital Campaign
The capital campaign, Embracing Our
Mission, which started in 2011-2012, continues to
yield results. Three hundred and eighty seven
Cathedral families have pledged $2,070,399 toward
our goal of $2.5 million. Parishioners have been
encouraged to make pledges to be fulfilled over
time, up to five years. Although active solicitation
has ceased, it's still possible to contribute through
envelopes in the pews designated to the campaign.
The Cathedral’s campaign is part of the
Archdiocese of Baltimore's larger effort to raise
$100 million, with different parishes joining in each
year. The Cathedral and the Archdiocese are
sharing the proceeds as follows: 15% of the first
$1,770,000, or $265,000, goes to the Cathedral with
the remainder going to the Archdiocese. Anything
beyond $1,700,000 all stays with the Cathedral.
Thus of the $2,070,399 pledged so far, the
Cathedral will keep $300,399, with more to come.
At our parish level, the funds will be applied
to build more classrooms at the School of the
Cathedral, repave church walkways, renovate the
rectory kitchen, fund the school endowment, and
add to the Preservation Trust.
Previous capital campaigns have funded the
Preservation Trust, which provides important
financial support for repairs and maintenance
for Cathedral buildings and grounds. For
