EDUCATION COMMISSION
Overview
The Education Commission strives to
help all parishioners grow in their knowledge and
understanding of our Catholic faith. It
encompasses four major ministries here at the
Cathedral: Adult Faith Formation, Youth
Ministry, School of the Cathedral of Mary Our
Queen, and the Sunday School of Religion.
Youth & Family Ministry Introduction
The Cathedral of Mary Our Queen Youth
& Family Ministry Office was very busy this year
organizing annual events, as well as starting a new
Middle School Program--The BRIDGE. We had
fun at our middle school mixers and high school
casserole making. We invited new members to our
middle and high school programs, making this
another successful year. Thanks to Meghan
Cosgrove and her volunteers for all their efforts
with our youth!
BRIDGE Program
The BRIDGE Program helps young
people transition to new times in their lives by
expanding their involvement in the parish
community. We give special attention to our young
parishioners who are transitioning to middle and
high school. The BRIDGE programs incorporate
liturgy, fellowship, service, and education. Topics
for discussion this year included reality TV,
bullying, social media, and making choices. Service
projects for the group
ranged from making dinner
at Baltimore Station to
playing basketball with
students from Holy Angels
Catholic School. We also
enjoyed playing the Annual
Turkey Bowl, a scavenger
hunt around church, and
bowling.

social events. We celebrated Mass in the Parish
Center and served the community through various
service projects. Our projects included Blankets for
Our Brothers, Dinners at Baltimore Station, Happy
Helpers for the Homeless, Breakfast Bags, and
Happy Helpers
On the first Sunday
of every month throughout
the school year, students
and parent volunteers met
to decorate bags and then
fill them with breakfast
treats for the needy.
Students brought granola
bars, fruit cups, juice boxes,
and oatmeal to the Parish
Center where we packed the bags. Then we headed
to Our Daily Bread where the students distributed
the breakfast bags to the homeless men, women,
and children. Thanks to all those who
demonstrated their faith in action through their
participation!
