INFORMATION AND MARKETING
In order to increase Agency visibility and broaden
market reach, the NMP pursued aggressive marketing
and publication drive in 2011. Towards this end,
the development, production and dissemination
of information and promotional materials were
pursued. In the area of client and public relations,
press releases were disseminated to various media
on a monthly basis. Media guestings in national and
2011 Annual Report
local television and radio stations as well as press
briefings were undertaken. Advertisements were
also placed in select maritime publications to inform
seafarers and interested parties on the agency’s
various programs and new services.
Still to increase agency visibility and in line with the
“Go to Sea” campaign of the international maritime
industry, the NMP continued to grant requests
for educational trips by different schools. This
kind of publicity is simple yet could influence the
decision of senior high school students to pursue
a seafaring career when they enroll in college. For
the year, there were a total of nine (9) educational
tours facilitated, most of which are with the Living
Hope Child Development and Learning Center,
Samar State University, Naval State University,
SERCON Technical School, St. Scholastica’s College,
Concepcion High School and Sacred Heart College.
LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER
With the implementation of the Value-based
Information and Communication Program, the
Learning Resource Center embraced the task of
maintaining the Agency’s value-based bulletin board
and the posting of value-model posters display. The
bulletin board display showcases positive Filipino
traits and values to serve as a constant reminder
to employees and trainees of the importance of
inculcating these social values into their daily lives.
Due to increasing volumes of book and non-book
acquisitions every year, the Learning Resource
Center regularly conducts maintenance and updating
of library collection, records and files for immediate
access of reference materials by its users and for
the preservation of important library holdings.
For the year 2011, thirty-seven (37) technical books
and six (6) journals were acquired and subscribed
to cater to instructors’ and trainees’ use. Clients
served for 2011 totaled 26,777.
PLANNING AND PERFORMANCE MONITORING
Cognizant of the dynamic nature of the maritime
industry and committed to provide relevant and
responsive services attuned to the issues and
challenges facing the maritime industry, the Agency
pursued the crafting of the NMP Development Plan
2012-2016.
The Development Plan was crafted in the spirit of
addressing critical issues and challenges that impact
on the maritime industry through interventions
related to the NMP’s mandate. It also looks
closely into issues and concerns for growth in the
institution’s internal environment.
