Improving the ease with which DBAs and application developers can communicate about problems<br />

using a common language and references is one of the biggest advantages to using Optim<br />

Performance Manager Extended Insight with <strong>pureQuery</strong> application metadata.<br />

8.4 Extended Insight For A Variety of Application Types<br />

8.4.1 Monitoring Plain JDBC or CLI applications<br />

Extended Insight always collects client-side statement statistics, even for plain JDBC or CLI<br />

applications that use supported drivers but have never been client optimized. Each statistic is<br />

aggregated per statement and per client-user during a given time period. Client statistics can be<br />

grouped by a variety of characteristics such as workstation name, client application identifiers, or<br />

users. These characteristics are said to define the monitored workload. The following are the<br />

primary aggregated statistics reported via OPM and Extended Insight for each monitored statement:
