THEY’RE OUR HEART AND SOUL: OUR LONG-SERVING COLLEAGUES WHO HAVE
DEDICATED THEIR CAREERS TO SERVING BOOTS AND OUR CUSTOMERS
Boots
and
through
through
Our huge number of long-serving colleagues is such a tribute to our business – Boots is the kind of place where people spend a
large part of their working lives, and we should never take that for granted or forget how precious that kind of loyalty actually
is. Here’s a round-up of those of you who have reached some special milestones with us – long-servers, we salute you!
David Freer
10 years
“I’m a Large Store Leader in a Top 300 store in Barnstaple in Devon.
It’s the largest pharmacy business in the South West and the third
largest in terms of retail turnover.
“What’s changed since 2004? The distribution network gets the
product into the store a lot quicker. We’ve also really transformed the
way that we can offer our products to customers at home through
digital and next-day delivery. And from an entrepreneurial point of view
there’s a lot of freedom here – there’s an expectation that you’ll do what
you need to do.
“Boots has looked after me through my highs and lows – at the times
when I needed the business most it really looked after me. It offers a
great career path, and as a leader here, it will always be about creating
an environment where we listen, recognise and understand our people.
Do three things – look after the people who look after the customer,
deal with those that don’t and work alongside your team when they
need you to – and anything’s possible.”
Andrew Hudson
30 years
“I started off at a store in Bradford
city centre in the gardening and pet
food department, and Alex Gourlay
was my manager – that should
give a sense of how much things
have changed! I’ve had some great
experiences – back in the day we
used to put on pantomimes and
that’s one of my fondest memories.
I really enjoy working here, hence
the milestone! They support your
progression and I’ve had a great
experience so far.”
Aileen Reynolds
“Boots is always looking after you.
Working here has given me the
opportunity to further myself – they
help and educate their colleagues.
“It’s very different now, but it has
to be to keep up! My advice to a new
colleague would be to start young and
work hard – it’s worth it.
“There’s too many great memories
to count, but the team at my store
are great. There’s a few long-servers
working together and we’ve had some
laughs along the way.”
