Sara Purdy of Purdy & Power Cranbrook has just completed
her Master Colour Programme with Wella International,
one of the biggest names in the hair colour industry. Colour
is a technical speciality which requires years of training and
constant education to keep you ahead of the game.
Wella Professionals Master Colour Programme is the ultimate
course to provide the highest achievers in colour with
absolutely everything that could ever be needed within the
salon to promote colour to the ever demanding clientele.
There are 4 stages to the programme:
After a gruelling selection process of three stages Sara was
invited to participate in the final stage of the Master Colour
Programme. This stage is the ultimate colour course in the
hairdressing industry and is BY INVITATION ONLY!
During this stage you learn the chemistry of colour and
extreme colour correction, the emotion and psychology
of the effects that colour has on clients and the legal
considerations to do with colour. This was followed by a
technical colour exam where the hair you have to colour has
already been coloured in 4 different sections. The aim is to
get all 4 sections back to one chosen colour and in good
condition. One section was black, the second section was
blonde and damaged, the third was green and the final
section was red/orange with black specks. For each section
there was an allotted amount of time. Unsurprisingly this
exam has a high failure rate and was one of the most stressful
and testing things Sara has had within her hairdressing career.
After successfully passing the course Sara is now a Master
Colour Educator and can pass on her exceptional skills and
knowledge to the rest of the salon ensuring all Purdy & Power
stylists benefit from Sara’s expertise in the use of colour.
