2. Lamberden Oast
Where? Lamberden Oast is off
the Rye Road on the outskirts of the
village of Sandhurst in an elevated rural
location with views over neighbouring
farmland (Google Maps TN18 5PH).
What? An attached triple squarekiln
oast, Lamberden was converted
in the mid-1970s but it is believed to
date from around 1850 and has been
attractively updated since its original
conversion and decorated in cool white
throughout. Downstairs is a sitting
room with a door opening out on to the
terrace and garden and a spacious openplan
kitchen/breakfast room/family
room with French windows opening on
to the garden. There is also a separate
study.
with en suite bathroom, three further
double bedrooms and a family bath and
shower room. Outside is an attractive
terrace and secluded gardens of around
half an acre surrounded by rolling
farmland.
rural location about a mile-and-a-half
What? An unlisted former 18th
century Kent ragstone threshing barn,
Marwood retains an attractive range
of original features including the
original high barn doors – now glazed
– vaulted ceilings and a number of the
with inglenook fireplace, a galleried
with the architect taking considerable
care to ensure the house pays homage to
