Module XIV: Leadership and Management<br />

Learning Objectives<br />

At the end of this module, the trainee will be able to:<br />

Analyze the components of organizational structure and culture;<br />

Apply theories of effective leadership and management within selected health care<br />

arenas;<br />

Employ nursing process skills, critical thinking, ethical decision-making,<br />

communication, and therapeutic nursing interventions in managing the culturally<br />

competent, cost effective care of groups of clients across the wellness/illness<br />

continuum;<br />

Collaborate with multidisciplinary health care team members to prioritize and<br />

coordinate high quality and cost effective healthcare;<br />

Demonstrate leadership and the management of a care-giving team comprised of<br />

individuals with varied cultural backgrounds and levels of clinical knowledge and<br />

competency;<br />

Use investigation and research skills to enhance the knowledge base, facilitate<br />

change, and improve the quality of care;<br />

Demonstrate professional accountability for effective leadership in a nursing practice;<br />
