pre‐orders opened for<br />

the Raspberry Pi. The<br />

original production run was for<br />

just 10,000 units. Now, nearly four<br />

years later, the Pi has become a<br />

global phenomenon and is still<br />

continuing to grow.<br />

To mark its fourth birthday,<br />

another big celebration has<br />

been planned for the weekend<br />

of 5-6 March in Cambridge, the<br />

birthplace of the Pi, and entry is<br />

free! Like last year, the event will<br />

be held in the Cambridge Computer<br />

Lab and has been organised by<br />

the co-creators of the Cambridge<br />

Raspberry Jam (CamJam), Michael<br />

Horne and Tim Richardson.<br />

“Tim Richardson and I are<br />

jointly responsible for organising<br />

the activities during Saturday<br />

and Sunday,” Michael tells us.<br />

“This includes getting volunteers<br />

to give talks, run and assist with<br />

workshops, exhibit in the show<br />

and tell area, and take part in<br />

our marketplace.”<br />

Indeed, with those four main<br />

elements, the event will be similar<br />

in format to last year’s party.<br />

There will be different topics,<br />

of course, and much of it done<br />

by the community according to<br />

Michael: “We rely very much on the<br />

community to dictate the content of<br />

much of the talks, workshops, and<br />

show and tell. We are expecting to<br />
