Research support costs comprise related staff costs, direct costs and allocated central support costs.
The deferred funding of £7,535,000 (2014: £3,862,000) is in respect of funding, due after more than one year
and within 5 years, for grants approved by the Board of Trustees during the year which is subject to conditions
being met.
The amount of expenditure in each year depends on the progress of the research projects and therefore the
amount shown in note 9 as due within one year is an estimate.
