Wealden Times talks to Katie Timothy...
Do you have a
beauty regime?
I do yes. I like to keep
things very simple and
uncomplicated but I certainly
have a regime. I use a light
exfoliator each night after I
have removed all my makeup,
followed by a night
cream. Then, in the morning
I use a light day cream before
applying my foundation over
the top. I do find my skin can
get very dry especially in the
winter months. Moisturising
twice a day really keeps
this at bay for me.
Do you have a particular
product you cannot
live without?
I’m an absolute sucker for
Neal’s Yard Remedies! The
products that I use on my
skin are in fact all from this
company. My favourite of
all of them would have to be
the Rose and Almond Night
Cream. This cream really
does soothe and remove all
the redness from my skin
by the time I wake up in
the morning. Especially
after wearing make-up
and facing the elements
from the previous day.
What’s your ultimate
pampering treat?
My ultimate pampering treat
is definitely the Rosemary
and Cedarwood Hair
Treatment from Neal’s Yard
Remedies... Like I said, I’m a
real sucker! This product gives
my hair that extra lift and bit
of last minute love, especially
when I’m in need of a hair
cut and haven’t quite found
the time to get it in the diary.
Who’s your style icon?
Without a doubt my style
icon is my partner in life
and business... He is a man
and therefore has completely
different clothes to me, but
his wardrobe is beautifully
curated. It’s wonderfully
simple and uncomplicated.
Handy Dandy
This bright yellow flower is
often thought of as a pesky
weed which likes to take over
our lawns and irritate golfers.
They pop up in pavement
cracks and even sneak in
at the side of the road.
They are however, rather
misunderstood. Dandelion
is a very rich source of
beta-carotene, vitamin C,
fibre, potassium, iron, and
contains more protein than
spinach. The entire plant can
be eaten; the flowers make
wonderful wine, the roots
have a delicious chocolatelike
taste when roasted
and ground into dandelion
coffee and the leaves are
often available in health
food shops as a freeze dried
herb. Take a walk and forage
them from somewhere free
from pesticides (the ones on
your lawn aren’t the best).
Alternatively, use a tincture
or tea as a digestive aid or
make a fresh dandelion and
fennel salad with a simple
lemon and tamari dressing.
Soothe & sleep...
The Organic Pharmacy’s
Carrot Butter Cleanser is
a must-have for this time
of year. Come in from
the elements and smooth
a small amount over dry
skin with your fingertips.
It melts instantly, and sinks
into pores, removing daily
grime and make-up. After
a couple of minutes, use
their luxurious organic
muslin cloth, soaked in hot
water to gently exfoliate
the skin and fully remove
the cleanser and any dead
skin. It leaves your pretty
cheeks feeling radiant,
incredibly soft and smelling
fragrant. Chamomile and
lavender soothe and calm,
also making it the perfect
relaxing treatment before
bedtime. Indulgent beeswax,
shea and cocoa butter make
it rich, without being thick
or heavy. We love this
cleanser, it’s totally gorgeous
and works perfectly with the
muslin cloth. Both are available
for £39.95 and £3.95 from
