At any rate the Krishna cult certainly identifies Krishna with Christ. There is no doubt that there is an attempt to copy. Even the similarity of crucifix of Jesus with the death of Krishna is a far cry. Krishna was killed by arrows, and his dead body was hung on a tree by the murderer. (I could not find the tree part in any purana so far.)
