Richard Petty Gets Candid About
2016 Plans For No. 9 Car
Team co-owner Richard Petty says his
Richard Petty Motorsports organization is
“still working on what we’re going to do
with the 9 car,” and that he doesn’t believe
current driver Sam Hornish Jr. will return to
the two-car NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team
16-team field.
Hornish, a three-time IndyCar champion
and winner of the 2006 Indianapolis 500, has
been unable to find success in NASCAR’s
premier series, managing only three top-five
finishes in 165 career starts. He is currently
for 2016.
“Things are looking up (on the
sponsorship front),” Petty said in the garage
at Phoenix International Raceway “We’ve
got some stuff coming down the pike, but
we don’t have it corralled yet.”
RPM currently fields two Sprint Cup
Series entries, the No. 43 Ford driven by Aric
Almirola as well as the No. 9 Ford of Hornish.
A Chase for the Sprint Cup participant last
season, Almirola failed to make this year’s
25th in points. He does have three career
victories in NASCAR’s XFINITY Series.
Asked if Hornish would be back, Petty
said, “No, I don’t think so.”
Petty, a seven-time series champion as a
12 ITJ www.TruckDriverMagazines.com
driver and winner of a series record 200 races,
said funding would be a determining factor in
driver selection for the No. 9 entry for ‘16, but
that cutting back to only one team was not a
consideration for the organization.
“No. We’re a two-car team,” he said.
“We have to look at sponsorship as much as
anything. It’s a combination deal. We can’t
just go with a driver and not have the money
and we can’t go with just the money and not
have a driver. It’s going to be interesting.”
Almirola’s
team carries
primary
sponsorship
from Smithfield
Foods with
additional
funding for
select events
from Fresh
from Florida,
the U.S. Air
Force and STP.
Medallion
Bank and
Twisted Tea are the primary partners of the
No. 9 of Hornish, while several other groups
have sponsorship roles for a smaller number
of races.
Keep Your Gun Safe,
Keep It Dry
By Venugopal Ramadasu
If gun safes are necessary to
keep your gun safe, then it is
equally important to keep it dry
and clean. A closed and humid
environment attracts microbes
and fungi and it is essential to
keep them in check. There is no
safe that is free from this problem.
Hence it is we who should
be cautious of this problem.
If we use a safe to keep documents, then we
can protect them using a plastic bag or cover.
But you cannot do the same for a gun. Hence
there are other ways to keep this problem in
check. The most obvious solution is to have a
dehumidifier.
WHY IS IT NECESSARY?
Think of a situation where you needed your
gun to fire but it got stuck. Will you accept
that? So, it is essential to have certain equipment
to safe guard your gun safe. Having the
adequate equipment will save your gun and
your gun safe.
TYPES OF DEHUMIDIFIERS
There are two types of dehumidifiers. The
first one is a Desiccant and the other one is an
electric dehumidifier. All kinds of dehumidifiers
will get into one of the two groups. Let us
first look at the desiccant type.
absorbs the moisture content to a certain level.
If you wish not to drill your gun safe, then this
should be your choice.
ELECTRIC DEHUMIDIFIER
This is the most popular type. There are lots
of dehumidifiers of this kind and it is advisable
to be clear with your needs before buying them.
This type of dehumidifiers makes use of a heating
element. The heating element will increase
the temperature inside the gun safe and it is
very effective in doing its work. The heating
element is exposed and when air comes in contact
with the element, the air gets heated and
thus moisture is removed.
The heating element is heated to 140 degrees
and above. As a result of this condensation is
prevented. This type of dehumidifier requires
a power source and a 24-hour power supply.
Hence some extra effort might be needed for its
installation.
DESICCANT DEHUMIDIFIER
This type of Dehumidifiers is easy to install
and it can be reused. It will be like a sponge
and it will keep the moisture level in check. It
HUNTER’S
WORLD
Despite the extra effort this will be a worthy
product to purchase. Rechargeable electric
dehumidifiers are now available and it won’t be
a bad idea to purchase them.
FINAL SAY
The decision is left to the user. The important
thing is to safeguard your gun and the gun
safe and both the above-mentioned products
satisfy that condition. If you feel bad about
damaging your gun safe to accommodate
a power slot, then
the first one will be the apt
choice. Trying a combo of
the two will also fetch a good
result.
Hence it is the user
who needs to decide
on the product. But
never try to decide on
the necessity of this
equipment as the decision
may turn against
you.
Tactical Vests Are
Functional And Stylish
By Julia K. Symbian
Tactical Vests are very advantageous for
army men. With the introduction of new gadgets
like GPS devices and rangefinders, they
need more pockets and straps, etc to store and
arrange them safely. These highly functional
vests are just what they need.
A tactical vest is also perfect for adventure
lovers, fishers, firefighters and other people
who need a large number of pockets for storing
different items. Usually worn by military
personnel, these vests are made of lightweight
fabrics for ease of wearing. You can also get
waterproof tactical vests for the rainy season.
Hunting and fishing enthusiasts, find this tactical
gear very handy since it has several large
pockets that are easily accessible. They offer
enough space for ammunition, tools, knives,
water bottle, first aid kits, etc.
You can wear them over a shirt or a t-shirt.
While camping outside or while in the middle
of a combat it is not always possible to reach
out for the tools in the bag. This is where a vest
gains importance. Users can keep the essentials
in the pockets on the vest and they would not
have to open the bags every now and then to
collect the things that they want. There are a
large number of people who think that being in
proper dress is essential while camping outside.
For them these vests are the ideal choice.
There are different kinds of vests available
in the market ranging from assault vest to camouflage
vests and so it is essential to be careful
enough while making a choice. Moreover, there
are a large number of companies supplying
them so you can easily get what you want.
However, while buying a Tactical vest you must
consider the size and fit.
Nowadays, tactical gear is easily available
online. As a result, buyers can easily find what
they want over the internet. The main advantage
of going through online stores is that
clients can sit right at their home and place an
order for the product that they want. Most suppliers
have their own websites where clients
can also get detailed information of the products
on sale.
The price of these vests varies depending
on the features. You
can get both affordable
vests and those
that are priced little
higher, so you can
make a choice as per
your need. You can get them in black and camouflage
patterns. The range of storage options,
makes them a great tactical gear. Paintball
enthusiasts can easily store paint balls and other
equipment in them. You can also find vests with
foam inserts that provide protection in case of
direct paintball
hit. If it is
hot the foam
insert can be
removed easily.
For the armed forces these vests are made
from various materials that are both lightweight
and bullet proof armor beneath it. You can also
find vests that have bullet proof armor sewn
with the vest fabric. This tactical clothing safeguards
the wearer in a nice way and are a must
have for military personnel. ITJ
