THE HORSEPLAYERS JOURNAL
6 ART ANGEL BABY begins her sophomore season with her first pari-mutuel event this side of the border. She raced on the Illinois fair circuit as a
freshman going 7-1-0 in 8 starts before being sold and moving to the Ron Burke stable. The Sagebrush filly won her only start for team Burke and
now calls the Ben Wallace outfit home. Her Mohawk prep isn’t anything to get too excited about but I’m confident she will be ready to contend for
top honors tonight.
1 EVANGELIN SEELSTER is back to work after nearly four weeks away and she will try to pick up where she left off. The Camluck filly won her
debut three starts ago and finished a respectable 3 rd in both round two and the final of the Blossom Series. She’s getting better with each start and
can contend for a big share if the time away isn’t an issue.
7 BARBARAS SHADOW starts back up after nearly four months on the sidelines for Rick Zeron. She posted :26.3 final quarter speed in her
prepping qualifier over Mohawk with a brisk wind at their backs down the lane. She sports the times needed to contend in here and this barn had
two recent starters do well in their first start off the shelf.
4 BAD IN PARADISE has returned to the Richard Moreau stable for her sophomore campaign and comes in off a solid qualifying effort. The
Badlands Hanover filly won once as a freshman and put together a nice stretch of results in August. This barn can have its starters ready to contend
off the bench and I would give her some respect for the tickets.
WORTH A LOOK
(2) DOCS DIVA was within striking range last time before putting in a dirty break around the final turn. She’s performed well in recent tried at this
level but is a little risky too. It should be noted that this is where Jamieson sticks.
(3) SHOCKING BEAUTY narrowly missed at the NW1 level in her latest and should continue to improve in her third start of the season. The Art
Major sophomore fits well with these.
(8) HOPE AND FAITH was on one line around the first turn last week and then couldn’t find enough to fend off the challengers in the stretch. She
should be better second time out and does sport that sharp qualifier.
