THE HORSEPLAYERS JOURNAL
7 WARRAWEE PROTON brings a two race win streak into this contest and overall he’s won four in a row at this claiming handicap level. The 5yo
was claimed from his latest and debuts for Sean Mehlenbacher tonight for his first appearance in 22 days. He draws a little better and should be
tough to defend against if his form remains intact. He’s the pick.
3 UTOPIA comes in with encouraging form after back to back in the money finishes. He’s kept his gait together recently and showed strong finishing
ability. Trainer Corey Johnson takes over via the claim and that will be an angle that attracts money to him. If he stays clean he should turn for
home with a chance to erase his winless seasonal mark. He’s a top two player.
8 GUILTYWITHANEXCUSE lowers his asking price after finding life a little too tough in recent weeks. His first two attempts in April were solid and
that type of an effort should put him in the mix for a big share here. He can leave and I believe A Mac will look to have him forwardly placed from
this spot. He should be more effective at this level and merits respect as a win candidate.
4 JUSTCALLMERONALD won the latest edition of this class with a front end tally for team Auciello. He earned a soft first half and wasn’t going to
be denied, fending off a late rally by Utopia. I think Drury will remain aggressive with him early aiming for a chance to work from the deuce once my
top pick gets rolling. He’s a good option for the tickets.
WORTH A LOOK
(1) GIRL DRAMA sports a solid resume in this claiming class but she also boasts multiple breaking efforts. If she minds her manners she can be on
the scene late to contend.
(6) MOONBEAM HALL looked better in his second start for team Baillargeon but a break in stride in his latest stalled his momentum. He’s a risky
option but could challenge for the ticket if he stays flat.
