THE HORSEPLAYERS JOURNAL
8 NOMATTERWHEN hasn’t had a big turnaround since joining the Richard Moreau stable three starts ago like so many before her have. She did
however earn a better result in her trip to Western Fair after finishing 3 rd . This will be a drop down for the 5yo mare and things will be much easier
than the last time she was here. This barn can get her on track versus this bunch.
7 CASIMIR LUCKY LADY raced up close in her latest before backing away through a swift 1:51.2 mile. She picked up minor cheques in her
previous two at a level a step up from this and should feel more comfortable this evening. She can leave and should be aiming for a good early
position from this post. She’s an attractive option this week.
4 SPORTSILLUSTRATOR wasn’t a top threat in either of her recent two tries here but she did finish well each time to nab 5 th . There are a couple
starters to her outside that show speed and could provide the necessary fractions to set her up for a good result. Good flow to carry her into
contention can have her in play for a bigger share.
5 SOPHIE BLU notched her second straight show result here after closing into a soft back half last week. The move to the middle of the gate
should see her get off to a better start and I’m predicting she can remain effective. She sports some of the best recent form and can’t be overlooked
for the tickets.
WORTH A LOOK
(1) CLASSIC COMEDY hasn’t been very effective from off the pace in her last two outings and maybe a more aggressive approach is needed. Her
only win this year came on the front and she’s finished top two twice this spring in this class.
(2) LADY JEN dropped to this level last week and was given an aggressive steer by J Mac but a parked out trip decided her fate. I believe she’s
better than her recent form suggests and is a longshot I’m considering for the Pick 5.
(9) L H HOLLYS CAM comes in riding solid form for her barn but can it last with the move to the extreme outside? If she gets away well without
being stung, she can stay in the mix for the exotics.
TICKET SUGGESTION: PICK 5 (2,7,8/3,7,8/1,6,8/5,7,10/2,6,10) $1COST=$243 (20CENT$48.60)
