Largest running event in the Middle East as an instrument of peace through sports
The Beirut Marathon is a muchanticipated
yearly event that has been
taking place since 2003.
This event has been growing in
popularity and participation, attracting
more runners each year, and creating
a culture of sportsmanship in the
country.
The Banque Du Liban Beirut Marathon
(BDLBM) has brought people together
from 85 countries and from all
Lebanese regions and backgrounds
to run in the streets of Beirut. Schools,
universities, corporate teams, and
NGOs/NPOs were active participants
in this year’s edition.
Elite Athletes
The 2015 marathon is classified as a Silver Label Road
Running event by the IAAF (International Association
of Athletic Federations) for its excellence in organizational
and logistical aspects.
The BDLBM is one of 27 Silver Label races out of a total
800 that take place every year around the world.
Throughout the years, BMA has hosted international sports figures in
Lebanon, putting the country on the World’s sports map.
In 2015, BMA invited:
• 24 elite athletes and their coaches
• 8 special needs athletes
15 small to medium events were
organized around the BDL Beirut
Marathon, stretching from August to
November, strategically designed to
ensure the success of the Marathon.
