Detach the above and mail or deliver to: Wendy Shoffit, Event Registrar, 1112 Santa Fe Trail, Irving, TX 75063. 2. Please make checks payable to: Maverick Region - PCA (or MR-PCA). 3. Pre-registration must be received no later than 8 P.M. the Wednesday before the event. 4. In order to classify your car and receive your <strong>2001</strong> driver number(s), you must complete a Classification Form. A Classification Form must be completed prior to the first event the car is in for the season and then a new form must be completed each time modifications are made which could affect the car’s classification. 5. If you have not driven a Maverick Region Saturday Event at Mineral Wells, you are a NOVICE and MUST attend a Mandatory novice orientation at Mayo Performance during the Wednesday Pre-Tech session at 7 P.M. 6. Mandatory Drivers’ meetings for each event, for all drivers are at 9 A.M. at the event site on the morning of the event. 7. Completion of Registration, Classification and Tech Inspection (safety) of your car and helmet (current and prior Snell ratings accepted) is required before you can compete in the event. Pre-registration and Tech inspection is REQUIRED for Driving Events, unless you have made prior arrangements with the Tech Inspector to tech at the track. Pre-tech Inspection will be done at the following location the week preceding the event: Wednesday, 6-8 P.M. at Mayo Performance, 1521 Baccarac Ct., Euless, (817) 540-4939 8. Working the Corners by Joe McGlohen PCA Zone 5 has experienced a dramatic growth in track events in the last 2 years. This growth has provided a lot of very rewarding Porsche moments for a lot of participants. It has also created an enormous demand for the "Supporting Cast" of volunteers to keep the events flowing smoothly off the track, and to provide safety and support service at the corners on the track. We have been fortunate to lean on SCCA flag teams in the past, but now we are having so many events that conflict with the SCCA schedule that we are going to be left high and dry for flagging and communications workers. One obvious solution is to ask for volunteer support from members who are interested in track events, but perhaps not quite ready to participate, or are not able to gain entry into the crowded field in the lower run groups. These members can learn quite a bit while being a corner worker. Not only is working a corner a real eye opener, but it also offers the best view in the house. In the 1960s when I was just getting into cars, you had to be 21 to race in SCCA, but could stand Flag at age 18. I learned more in three years working Flag and Communication than I would have learned from Bondurant or Skip Barber school. Members new and old should know proper worker techniques and to assist in this endeavor we will be conducting a Flag and Communication clinic in the not to distant future for HCR and for MAV. LSR held one the first Friday in February at TWS. We generally try to rotate corner workers and get a broad view and perspective to folks that want to broaden their exposure.
