Photography: A Short Course

W.hen I spoke up I quickly “got
volunteered” to take charge
of my issue. We have many
members interested in photography. I
thought, “Let’s take that interest, give
them some training, a little competition,
and increase our good photo
content . . . plus have a little fun.”
Thankfully, I signed up some enthusiastic assistants,
especially the dynamic duo of Tracy Robertson and
Linda Bambina, who can organize anything. And soon
there was a big committee that meets monthly to get
this thing rolling.
Our initial task was to investigate how other Regions
go about this. The answer was quickly apparent: They
have a yearly photo competition. So we scheduled a
Photo Contest in conjunction with our Founder’s Day
Banquet. Next, how to get entries in the contest?
Again, the answer was apparent: This led to our firstever
Photo Workshop being scheduled at Park Place
Porsche in Dallas. See the ad below for details.
I call it a “Short Course” because we are going to pack
a lot into 4 hours:
• How to Operate your Camera
• How to Edit your Photos
• Expert Secrets for Success
• Lunch
• A walking Photo Tour of Park Place Porsche
• Discussion of everyone’s Tour Pictures
• Q&A
We encourage any member with an interest in taking
better photographs to join us at Park Place on August
23. Please RSVP by August 8 so we don’t run out of
food, plus there will be reading materials prior to the
workshop.
Workshops like this normally cost multi-$100. It’s free
to members, as we hope to inspire you to become a part
of our cadre of photographers. We need your talent,
and promise to make it fun and loaded with information.
