Getting lost is something<br />
that comes naturally to me. At<br />
times I feel as though I was<br />
born with no sense of<br />
direction or the ability to use<br />
a compass.<br />
Once, while driving my<br />
sons to a birthday party, they<br />
could sense I didn’t know<br />
where I was going. As I<br />
looked at the slip of paper in<br />
my hand that contained<br />
directions and an address,<br />
and looked from side to side<br />
at a four-way stop sign, not<br />
knowing what to do next, my<br />
eldest son said, “Are we lost<br />
yet, Dad?” He knew if Iwasn’t<br />
I soon would be. His<br />
confidence was inspiring!<br />
Fortunately, a police officer<br />
on a motorcycle saw me<br />
looking at the piece of paper<br />
and offered to help me. With<br />
compassion he asked, “May<br />
I help you, Sir?” Of course I<br />
said, “Yes,” and with a great<br />
sign of relief gave him the<br />
address of the party. He gave<br />
me careful and complete<br />
instructions.Then, looking at<br />
me and realizing I had no idea<br />
what he was talking about said<br />
with great compassion, “Never<br />
mind. Follow me, I’ll get you<br />
there.”<br />
And it worked. In a few<br />
moments I looked at the name<br />
and address on the mail box<br />
and knew that I had arrived at<br />
my destination safely.<br />
In the maze of life with its<br />
constant confusion and<br />
complex choices we often need<br />
help. David said, “I cling to<br />
You; Your right hand upholds<br />
me.” Jesus, realizing our lost<br />
condition said, “I am the Way,<br />
the Truth and the Life. Follow<br />
me.”<br />
God keeps those safe who<br />
follow His directions.<br />
