ECO EXPO ASIA 2015
Chinese mainland and across Asia.
This year, there were 8 local government
departments exhibited in Eco Expo Asia
together with the Environment Bureau, including
first-time participants of Agriculture,
Fisheries and Conservation Department and
Buildings Department. Besides, about 400 government
officials from the Chinese mainland,
Japan, Malaysia, Philippines and Hong Kong
visited the 2015 show, underlining the value
they viewed the Expo as a premier platform
to acquire the latest and quality environmental
solutions.
GREEN INITIATIVES
The latest eco-friendly vehicles were
on display at Eco Expo Asia. The e-Golf,
Volkswagen’s first pure electric vehicle, as
well as Nissan’s e-NV200, a multi-purpose
electric commercial van, and LEAF models
were available for visitors to test drive and
test ride at the fair. An electric bus manufactured
by Green Dynamic Electric Vehicle
Ltd in collaboration with the Hong Kong
Productivity Council was also on display. The
bus featured a motor control system and body
structure that was developed in Hong Kong.
Eco Expo Asia also presented a host of hi-tech
environmental protection products. A case
in point was the “iTrash Smart City Trash
Recycling System” which was well-received
by buyers for its e-money function: the trash
collection system has a weighing mechanism
that can charge fees according to the quantity
of garbage collected. On the other hand,
the resource recycling machine can process
rebates for plastic bottles and aluminium cans
recycled.

exhibited at the Expo.
FRINGE PROGRAMMES
The three-day Eco Asia Conference
invited 38 government officials and experts
from 8 countries and regions to discuss matters
relating to government policies and needs,
cleaner production, waste management &
recycling, green purchasing & consumption
and green building & energy efficiency.
The two luncheons held on 28 Oct
together attracted over 280 Chinese mainland
and Hong Kong government officials, manufacturers
and business leaders to exchange
views on innovative environmental solutions.
A group business matching session was
arranged to the property developer and hoteliers
from the Chinese mainland generated
over 320 individual contacts and business
discussions.
Thematic guided tours were organised
to local government green managers, listed
companies’ professionals as well as overseas
trade buying missions. The tours were tailored
with a mixture of selected exhibitors in the
areas of Green Building & Energy Efficiency,
Green Purchasing & Consumption, Waste
Management, as well as Cleaner Production,
There were country or region focused
seminars to explore the latest industry innovations
and creations from different countries
and regions. Seminars included “Introduction
to Illinois Environmental Equipment &
Technologies”, “Waste Management Solutions
for a Green Smart City”, “Advantages of
Japanese Environmental Technologies and
“Taiwan’s Green Products & Technologies
Seminar”.
PUBLIC DAY
In order to raise public awareness on environmental
protection, Eco Expo Asia was open
to public on 31 October. 3,384 public visitors
attended the Public Day, indicating the strong
public interest in environmental related events.
Series of varied and interesting events were
held, including Public Day Forum on hot eco
topics and Green Workshop, etc. Visitors could
also purchase various kinds of environmentally
friendly products at the Green Mart.
MORE TO SEE IN 2016
The four-day Eco Expo Asia 2015 created
tremendous business opportunities. In addition,
it had been an effective learning and networking
experience for all. As a successful
trading and networking platform for suppliers
to tap the fast growing markets in Chinese
mainland and across Asia, Eco Expo Asia will
be held on 26-29 October 2016.
