"Cammillo is my Grandfather, and he had the restaurant
before the war. It wasn't really a restaurant. My father, Brumo
was in the army and he and friends would go over to
where the Ponte Vecchio is now and take a glass of
wine...after the war 1945 my father moved the
restaurant here where it has been ever since. The Ponte
Vecchio Bridge is the only bridge that wasn't destroyed in the
war...maybe the person who was supposed to plant the bombs had
a conscience," says Chiara the lovely daughter of Civa who is the
daughter of Cammillo. The Grandmother is the best:) Lovely.
The Restaurant is right across from the Ponte Veccho Bridge one of
my wonders of the world...take the first right after the bridge and
Saldo the chef above and the picture that Diva loves the best below.
You can see him wiith his hands covering his mouth! Funny.
When I started the international newspaper almost 3 and 1/2
years now I
wanted to write about the images we have of
the world and the reality of the world. I thought that Italy is the
scene in the Godfather when Sonny is stirring the meatballs and the
family is all conversing about life while guarding the family estate. It
took me almost 4 years to find the real Italian comeraderie of
family cooking in that scene... here is where you will find it as the
waiters manuever in and out of my standing in their way. It
felt as if my family is walking around me. Lovely and truly
inspiring.
walk down a little alley way. On the right if luck is with us we can
jump onto a motor bike and have a ride as the guy here is doing
guiding his way in and out of obstacles...It is cool to see the real life
of the people living at Florence. If you continue to walk you could
find the lovely restaurant of Cammillo.
