Presented With November
‘Teachers are Heroes’ Award
Celebrating educators, who go
far above and beyond the call of duty,
Teachers are Heroes shines a spotlight
on one of the most important professions…teaching!
On Tuesday, December
6th, Azusa Pacific University (APU)
and KATY 101.3 The Mix (KATY)
recognized Nicole McManaman as the
November Teachers are Heroes winner
for her efforts in making a difference in
the lives of so many people.
Mrs. McManaman has been teaching
over 10 years in Kindergarten at
Estudillo STEAM Elementary School
in San Jacinto. She is excited about her
students and enjoys seeing their growth
during the school year. Elizabeth Nicolas,
parent of a former Estudillo student,
nominated McManaman and said, “Mrs.
McManaman goes above and beyond
for each one of her students no matter
what time or day. She has been a mentor
for so many new teachers as well. Her
positive attitude towards life is amazing”.
Nicolas did her student teaching in
McManaman’s class so she has learned
first-hand how to be an effective teacher.
Nicolas has had 3 children go through
McManaman’s class as well.
Dr. Sonya Scott, Principal of Estudillo
states, “Mrs. McManaman is truly an
exceptional teacher and an asset to our
students and the SJUSD Community”.
Estudillo STEAM Elementary School
office manager, Shelley Petrosino also
said, “McManaman goes above and beyond
and is a tremendous contributor to
staff and school. She is very respected
amongst her colleagues”.
McManaman was presented with
the Teachers are Heroes award and some
special prizes from The Mix Prize Closet.
Following the presentation, McManaman
and her class were treated to a pizza party
provided by the Temecula Pizza Factory.
The Teachers are Heroes program
will run through April 2017. Teachers
may be nominated by students, parents,
and even other school administrators. All
selected teachers and their classes will attend
a private celebration at the end of the
year at the Lake Elsinore Storm Stadium.
