Be Inspired <strong>2016</strong> Awards Winner (Construction).<br />

the duration of the conference that featured<br />

speakers from prominent organisations such<br />

as Microsoft, KPMG, AECOM, Shell, Applied<br />

Research & Associates, Atkins, and Black &<br />

Veatch. Attendees had the opportunity to<br />

explore the intersection of technology and<br />

business drivers, and how they would shape<br />

the future of Infrastructure Project Delivery<br />

and Asset Performance.<br />

Presentations and industry forums<br />

highlighted Industry best Practices<br />

and provide valuable insights on BIM<br />

Advancements and Innovations in<br />

technology that are helping to improve<br />

project delivery and asset performance.<br />

Each forum was an ideal venue for<br />

infrastructure professionals to interact with<br />

peers and industry visionary, learn about best<br />

practices, advances in technology, and hear<br />

from around the world about projects and<br />

lessons learned. Forums included <strong>Building</strong><br />

and Facilities, Rail and Roads, Oil, Gas and<br />

Chemicals, Utilities, and The Visions for the<br />

Future.<br />

The <strong>2016</strong> Vision for the Future Forum<br />

explored the latest research and future<br />

trends from Bentley Fellows with a focus<br />

on infrastructure performance, design,<br />

and modelling. New and developing<br />

technologies such as explorative design and<br />

augmented reality were presented in the<br />

context of application and analysis to reduce<br />

uncertainty in future decision making and<br />

the potential utility to engineering.<br />

YII<strong>2016</strong> annual BE INSPIRED Awards<br />

honour the year’s extraordinary work<br />

of Bentley software users in advancing<br />

infrastructure design, construction, and<br />

operations from all over the world. Ten<br />

independent Jury Panels comprising<br />

distinguished industry experts selected 54<br />

finalists from more than 300 nominations<br />

submitted by organisations in 80 Countries.<br />

The awards programme is unique in that<br />

it is the only competition of its kind that is<br />

global in scope and comprehensive in the<br />

categories covered, encompassing all types<br />

of infrastructure projects.<br />

The 54 Be Inspired Awards finalists<br />

presented their innovative projects to an<br />

audience comprising the jury panel, their<br />

peers and 132 media members. Judged for the<br />

most innovative in infrastructure projects,<br />

winning submissions were celebrated at The<br />

Be Inspired Awards Gala.<br />

CONNECT Edition’s Comprehensive<br />

Modelling Environment<br />

In <strong>2016</strong>, several CONNECT Editions for<br />

design, analytical, construction, and reality<br />

modelling applications were released that<br />

include: AutoPipe, Descartes, Pointools,<br />

gINT, RM, LARS, SACS, MOSES, MAXSURF,<br />

SITEOPS, STAAD, and RAMS. The Open<br />

Roads ConceptStation was introduced<br />

earlier in the year, and OpenRoads Designer<br />

CONNECT Edition was announced at the<br />

conference.<br />

MicroStationCONNECT Edition and<br />

Navigator CONNECT Edition applications<br />

were introduced in 2015. Together with the<br />

arrival of CONNECT Editions of AECOsim<br />

<strong>Building</strong> designer, MineCycle, Promis.e,<br />

OpenUtilities, and Openplant in the first half<br />

of 2017, the series of CONNECT Editions<br />

would be complete.<br />
