industry forums were ongoing throughout
the duration of the conference that featured
speakers from prominent organisations such
as Microsoft, KPMG, AECOM, Shell, Applied
Research & Associates, Atkins, and Black &
Veatch. Attendees had the opportunity to
explore the intersection of technology and
business drivers, and how they would shape
the future of Infrastructure Project Delivery
and Asset Performance.
Presentations and industry forums
highlighted Industry best Practices
and provide valuable insights on BIM
Advancements and Innovations in
technology that are helping to improve
project delivery and asset performance.
Each forum was an ideal venue for
infrastructure professionals to interact with
peers and industry visionary, learn about best
practices, advances in technology, and hear
from around the world about projects and
lessons learned. Forums included Building
and Facilities, Rail and Roads, Oil, Gas and
Chemicals, Utilities, and The Visions for the
Future.
The 2016 Vision for the Future Forum
explored the latest research and future
trends from Bentley Fellows with a focus
on infrastructure performance, design,
and modelling. New and developing
technologies such as explorative design and
augmented reality were presented in the
context of application and analysis to reduce
uncertainty in future decision making and
the potential utility to engineering.
YII2016 BE INSPIRED Awards Programme
YII2016 annual BE INSPIRED Awards
honour the year’s extraordinary work
of Bentley software users in advancing
infrastructure design, construction, and
operations from all over the world. Ten
independent Jury Panels comprising
distinguished industry experts selected 54
finalists from more than 300 nominations
submitted by organisations in 80 Countries.
The awards programme is unique in that
it is the only competition of its kind that is
global in scope and comprehensive in the
categories covered, encompassing all types
of infrastructure projects.
The 54 Be Inspired Awards finalists
presented their innovative projects to an
audience comprising the jury panel, their
peers and 132 media members. Judged for the
most innovative in infrastructure projects,
winning submissions were celebrated at The
Be Inspired Awards Gala.
CONNECT Edition’s Comprehensive
Modelling Environment
In 2016, several CONNECT Editions for
design, analytical, construction, and reality
modelling applications were released that
include: AutoPipe, Descartes, Pointools,
gINT, RM, LARS, SACS, MOSES, MAXSURF,
SITEOPS, STAAD, and RAMS. The Open
Roads ConceptStation was introduced
earlier in the year, and OpenRoads Designer
CONNECT Edition was announced at the
conference.
MicroStationCONNECT Edition and
Navigator CONNECT Edition applications
were introduced in 2015. Together with the
arrival of CONNECT Editions of AECOsim
Building designer, MineCycle, Promis.e,
OpenUtilities, and Openplant in the first half
of 2017, the series of CONNECT Editions
would be complete.
