America. Every Sunday they made their<br />

way to their sanctuaries and fervently<br />

prayed to the Lord to send them a sign<br />

that democracy would come to them.<br />

When American democracy beckoned<br />

them again, after the attack on Pearl<br />

Harbor, they closed ranks, as they had<br />

done in the Revolutionary War, the Civil<br />

War, the Spanish-American War, World<br />

War I, and every other American war;<br />

they geared up to fight, for their country’s<br />
