An employment and training program for women interested in<br />
nontraditional blue-collar and construction jobs, training, and<br />
apprenticeships. Must be between the ages of 18 and 50, have a<br />
high school diploma or HSE, be interested in a blue-collar career,<br />
able to attend day or evening programs, and able to lift 50 pounds.<br />
Call for an appointment Mon.–Sat. 8–4. Information sessions occur<br />

Early breast and cervical cancer detection services available for all<br />
women, including breast palpation, instruction in breast self-examination,<br />
mammography, pap smears, referrals. It is recommended<br />
that all women get pap smears once per year and women over 40 (or<br />
younger if they have a family history of breast cancer) get mammograms<br />
once per year. Spanish also spoken.<br />
Provides services to mothers inside and outside correctional facilities.<br />
Community-based programs include transitional and permanent<br />
supportive housing; a comprehensive employment training and placement<br />
program; case management and therapeutic services; pre- and<br />
post-release mentoring; mentoring for children with incarcerated<br />
parents; child care that includes a fully licensed day care center, an<br />
after-school program, and a summer camp that enables mothers to<br />
go to work or school; thrift shops; and a community food pantry.<br />
