Offers classes in karate, self-defense, and tai chi. All women and<br />

transgender people are welcome, regardless of age or physical<br />

ability. Free child care provided. Day, evening, and weekend classes.<br />

Also offers an after-school program in self-defense and violence<br />

prevention for teen women and trans youth. Programs for girls and<br />

trans youth aged 12–19 and women and transgender people who are<br />

survivors of sexual abuse, domestic violence, or child abuse are free.<br />

Open to men in LGBT community as well several times a year. Slidingscale<br />

The LGBT Bar Association of Greater New York (LeGaL) provides<br />

meaningful legal services including holistic consultations, referrals,<br />

and representation to members of our community. LeGaL offers<br />

weekly walk-in pro-bono clinics in New York City and Newark, New<br />

Jersey, as well as resources and referrals.<br />

The PurpLE Clinic (Purpose: Listen and Engage) offers safe, sensitive<br />

and respectful health care for anyone who has experienced<br />

trauma (domestic violence, trafficking, rape or abuse) The clinic is<br />

open every weekend and staffed by a family physician. Everyone is<br />

welcome, regardless of age, gender, insurance, or documentation<br />

status. PurpLE Clinic offers routine physicals, OB-GYN care, STI<br />

tests, pregnancy tests, birth control, diabetes care, HIV care, PrEP,<br />

and more. Referrals for mental health care, dentistry, and acupuncture.<br />

Destination Tomorrow provides services to the LGBTQ community<br />

in the South Bronx. Destination Tomorrow has both in-house and<br />

referral-based services, including a youth drop-in center, counseling,<br />

support groups, financial literacy classes, a free legal clinic the fourth<br />

Thursday of each month from 6–8 pm, and trans-affirming health<br />

care in partnership with Montefiore Medical Clinic’s Cicero Program.<br />

Destination Tomorrow also offers capacity-building training to agencies<br />

who wish to work with LGBTQ communities but lack the cultural<br />

competency and expertise.<br />
