JOB SEARCH CENTRAL (JSC) /<br />

CAREER AND EDUCATION INFORMATION SERVICE (CEIS)<br />

Provides information to all populations on all aspects of career<br />

development. The collection includes civil service exam study guides,<br />

resume and cover letter handbooks, vocational encyclopedias,<br />

directories of potential employers, guidebooks, DVDs for people<br />

reentering the workforce, and much more. Computers in Job Search<br />

Central (JSC) can be used for exploring job-search websites. Services<br />

and programs include career-development workshops, lectures and<br />

training in online job searching, and career fairs hosting dozens of<br />

prospective employers from various fields. Visitors will be able to<br />

receive one-on-one support to address whatever job-search issue<br />

they would like to discuss. Service is free. Visitors can start planning<br />

their job-search strategy with an expert librarian, or begin with an<br />

organized and updated list of job-search and job-information websites<br />

prepared by the library staff.<br />

BPL provides information on careers and job searching, vocational<br />

training, personal finance, and starting your own business. Resume &<br />

Career Help–a service that provides basic job readiness assistance<br />

such as help with resumes, interviewing techniques, and changing<br />

careers–is available at Business & Career Center as well as numerous<br />

BPL branches. Offers access to skill-building online learning<br />

courses. BPL also partners with community organizations such<br />

as Bedford-Stuyvesant Restoration to provide individualized financial<br />

counseling and SCORE to provide small business counseling.<br />

Services are free and open to all adults and young adults.<br />
