Challenger Soccer Challenger MiniKickers MiniKickers is an EXCITING program focusing on the development of children aged 2-5 years old. Soccer experts and child development professionals have designed an innovative curriculum that introduces your young soccer stars to the basic skills needed in soccer as well as developing their motor, social, and psychological skills. The British coaches are experts at working with young children and will combine soccer with fun games; stories and music that keeps your children entertained and enthused to return next week. Come join our Cubs and Lions Program and join Lenny the Lion in having some soccer fun! Each participant receives a FREE ball, jersey and shorts as part of the MiniKickers program package! Each day includes individual foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games, coached scrimmages, and a daily tournament. Equally important, the Challenger coaching staff provides your child with lessons in respect, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship and leadership. Each camper will receive a free camp t-shirt, soccer ball, player evaluation and end of camp gift. Please bring a water bottle, shin guards and sunscreen to camp each day. T-Ball and Coach Pitch Baseball League Play Begins June 6th (7 weeks plus rain-outs) • 5:30 - 8:30 pm Games are played Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday evenings to free up those summer weekends! T-Ball - 4 to 6 years old • Coach Pitch - 5 to 8 years old SPORTS/CAMPS 2017 SPRING/SUMMER 14 The Leawood Parks & Recreation Department is pleased to offer another exciting summer of T-Ball and Coach Pitch Baseball. Our baseball program stresses individual skill development and game understanding in a relaxed and recreational atmosphere. Teams ideally consist of 12 to 16 players, with individual players being placed according to school location whenever possible. The City does not provide coaches and relies upon dedicated volunteer parents to fill these positions. This program is a great transition into youth baseball, while fostering teamwork and friendship for all! Fee Includes: Seven game season, t-shirt, cap, participation award, and all equipment excluding a baseball glove. Occasional educational visits from the Leawood Fire and Police Depts. are also included. One - 2 week camp, three sessions to choose from. Meet at the Lion’s Shelter. Outdoor Camp Session Creative Creations Camp Love to get creative? This outdoor camp is for children entering the 3rd - 6th grade who want to explore the world of art in a fun and exciting way. Young artists work with paints, chalk, paper and clay, (and that’s just the beginning) and go on a field trip to an “artistic location” each session. Daily swim instruction is also included with this camp. One - 2 week camp, three sessions to choose from. Meet at the Leawood Aquatic Deck. ages 9-12 Leawood's full day Outdoor Camp is for kids ages 9-12. This camp is will feature a unique full-day adventure in an outdoor setting. The campers will start off in Leawood City Hall, spend the day outdoors in Leawood's parks or other fun locations around town and return to the City Hall for parent pickup. Campers will enjoy activities such as hiking, basketball, soccer, arts and crafts, and daily trips to the pool for "free swim". Weekly field trips will take campers to fun and exciting locations. Possible trips include: Worlds of Fun, Oceans of Fun, Powerplay, Schliterhaun, Skyzone, Ironwoods Challege Course. Five - 7 hour sessions. This camp is for the sports fanatic. Children in the 3rd-6th grade will spend two weeks participating in recreational sports and games. Daily playing of different sports include basketball, volleyball, tennis, baseball, soccer, and more! Daily swim instruction is also included with this camp. One Friday field trip will take campers to a sport themed venue. Daily activities depend on camp numbers. One - 2 week camp, three sessions to choose from. Meet at the West Basketball Court. A homeschool group with a minimum of 5 students can select from a list of courses provided. These courses will be 60 minutes in length. Each class will have a lecture and lab/demonstration portion. Please read and refer to the cancellation and refund policy set by the City of Leawood prior to booking your program. Fee $12 per student/Leawood Resident Discounted $10 per student Min 5 Max 25. These courses are available in a seminar (4 courses of your choosing). Each class will be two hours in length and includes a lecture, demonstrations and hands on experiments. Seminars will begin with a general overview of the physical or biological science and then progress to more specific concepts in those areas of study. The seminar will be an intensive look at subject matter and themes.
