Brain Builders Explore math beyond the numbers through games and puzzles. Students discover their mind power while having a lot of fun as they learn new strategies and become more confident problem solvers with increased critical thinking and logic skills. Addition & Subtraction Use mental strategies to quickly add and subtract numbers. Students will review carries and borrows. Time and Money Learn all aspects of time and money though games and activities. Lessons include telling time, time word problems, counting money, making change and money word problems. Fractions & Decimals Learn techniques to add, subtract, multiply, divide fractions and decimals. Convert between fractions, decimals and percents. This class covers fraction and decimal word problems. To get the most benefit, students should have a solid understanding of basic multiplication and division facts. Advanced Multiplication and Division Learn traditional and mental multiplication for 2 and 3 digit numbers, traditional long division and mental division techniques, plus both multiplication and division word problems. Pre-Algebra Learn pre-algebra concepts including working with positive and negative integers, positive and negative exponents, the real number system, and basic algebraic equations. Designed for students with an interest in engineering and how things work and for young innovators who have a passion to create new gadgets and contraptions. Five - 3 hour classes. Intro to STEM with Lego® Tap into your imagination with tens of thousands of LEGO®. Build engineer-designed projects such as Boats, Snowmobiles, Catapults, and Merry-Go-Rounds. Then use special pieces to create your own unique design! New and returning students can explore the endless creative possibilities of the LEGO® building system with the guidance of an experienced Play-Well instructor. There is no prerequisite for this course. Five - 3 hour classes. Batman Master Mechanics with Lego® Defeat Gotham's villains by designing and building Batman's most advanced crime-fighting machines! Infiltrate Arkham Asylum, build a Bat Cycle, and fly your Batcopter. Then use your projects to thwart the Joker's plans to take over the city. Be the super-hero or super-heroine Gotham needs. Find engineering solutions through the use of STEM concepts! Five - 3 hour classes. STEM Challenge with Lego® Power on your engineering skills with Play-Well TEKnologies and tens of thousands of LEGO®! Apply real world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture through engineer-designed projects such as Catapults, Pneumatic Cranes, Arch Bridges, and Battle tracks! Design and build as never before, and explore your craziest ideas in a supportive environment. An experienced instructor will challenge new and returning students to engineer at the next level.
