SCAVENGERS’ UNION

The Scavengers’ Union was founded in 1992. “Before we set up our union, we depended
on the goodness of each institution,” says Spyros, the chairman. Their need for a steady
livelihood led them to organize, in order to claim and finally procure a regular venue for
their weekly bazaar, every Sunday. People with different cultures, backgrounds and religious
views coexist in harmony. The honorary chairman, the chairman, the secretary, the
treasurer, the members, the honorary members – they all form a human mosaic, our society
in miniature.
