The film follows a group of 16-year-old graffitists on their night walks in Athens. Drawings,
paintings, references to master pieces, train carriages, obsessions with the art of the
street, colours against the grey cement, a barrage of images, in combination with hip hop
music – these are the film’s elements, with just one camera in hand and pictures. Worries,
questions, conclusions, a monologue that is their voice, experiments and mixed media
techniques. A first step. This is the first attempt of a group of 16-year-old boys of the city
who paint graffiti. Holding the camera, they filmed their adventures during the night in
hot spots. With no script, they used the image and their idea as well as their daily obsession
with the art of graffiti. We have always liked street signs, graffiti on football stadiums.
We used to write everywhere. It was an expression of our feelings, which were being caged
inside this sterile city of concrete. Our group used to look outside the train window, eagerly
searching for a piece of wall where we would go to write during the night. Writing was
like breathing to us... Once a policeman let us continue, saying “you are artists, but please
don’t write on the 2004 bridge on Kifissias Avenue”. Our names are still there...
