Lilias Day Artwork -
created by Local Artist
43 43
A Kilbarchan artist has created artwork especially for this years Lilias Day.
My Moon Garden artist, Kay Nicholson, has created a wonderful Kilbarchaninspired
composition that will be used on Lilias Day merchandise to be sold to
raise money for the event.
Given the challenge of using a single colour, Kay came up with the idea of designing
a willow pattern of Kilbarchan. She included some of the well-known buildings, a
few friends’ houses and some imagination to create the Lilias Day artwork. She
wanted to make the theme of family important as Kilbarchan is such a family
orientated village
and also wanted
to include some
of the old with
some of the new.
The rainbow that
is featured brings
the promise that
the troubles of
today will surely
come to pass,
hold strong in
your vision and
the rainbow
will bring fresh
beginnings and
new prosperity.
The end of the rainbow signifies a pot of gold and the magic that surrounds
dreams coming true.
A range of “Lilias Day” merchandise will feature the lovely design including
bags, cards and limited edition prints. Merchandise will be available from the
Lilias Day stall on the day or on request via Facebook, Twitter or via email info@
howwood
& elderslie
.....................................................
Hi there, ever since I have been a Councillor representing
Howwood speeding has been an issue. The community
council have been speaking to the police about how local
people can get involved in trying to reduce this behaviour.
I hope to report back to you with some positive news to on
this soon.
I spent most of the evening of the General Election at the
village hall and it was very busy. Villagers turned out in
force to choose their candidate. Turnout in the village was
amongst the highest in Renfrewshire with the figure around
81%. So democracy is well and truly thriving in Howwood.
Some good news as the new Broadband service is now
available for Howwood. This has taken a long time and a thanks to everyone
involved in bringing this to the village.
There is still no sign of a formal planning application for housing at the former
St Cuthberts school site. A number of people from Howwood have expressed an
interest in this and I will let readers know of any future developments.
The planning appeal made by Bowfield as I write this is still to be determined by
the Scottish Government again I will update you as soon as possible.
Remember I can be contacted on cllr.iain.mcmillan@renfrewshire.gov.uk
