If you want a different point of view of your subject that your tripod cannot provide – if it is too short,<br />

for example – look around <strong>and</strong> improvise. In this example a safety fence was in view of the camera,<br />

so additional height was required to capture the time-lapse. A near<strong>by</strong> table gave the perfect solution<br />

to the problem <strong>by</strong> providing the height needed.<br />

THE SIX STEPS OF TIME-LAPSE<br />

When you are setting up your time-lapse it is constructive if a process is followed; this way you can<br />

ensure that nothing important is forgotten at the time of shooting. It is very easy to overlook something<br />

when on location; we find ourselves in unfamiliar surroundings <strong>and</strong> we can be distracted <strong>by</strong> what is<br />

around us. Below is a process that you might find useful. You can always change it <strong>and</strong> make it your<br />

own, but it’s a good starting point.
