The National <strong>Film</strong> Archive in Warsaw, a member of the European<br />
Federation of <strong>Film</strong> Archives, has the greatest collections of films<br />
and archive records in Europe. The aims of the National <strong>Film</strong><br />
Archive mainly refer to the preservation of the Polish cinema<br />
national heritage and selected items of the world cinema, their<br />
systematic conservation and archiving of all collected items and<br />
records.<br />
The film catalogue holds approximately 15,000 titles. The National<br />
<strong>Film</strong> Archive also owns an impressive collection of books (app.<br />
23,000 titles), film posters (app. 25,000), periodicals (app.<br />
1000 titles), film programmes (app. 23 000 titles), scripts and<br />
shooting scripts (app. 27,000 titles), film stills, directors’ scripts,<br />
newspaper clippings and other archive records.<br />
The National <strong>Film</strong> Archive lends out archived film prints and coorganizes<br />
many reviews of Polish films abroad and of foreign films<br />
in <strong>Poland</strong>. As part of the National <strong>Film</strong> Archives the Arthouse<br />
Cinema Network (Sieç Kin Studyjnych) provides support to the<br />
distribution of Polish and foreign arthouse films.<br />

The Adam Mickiewicz Institute is a state organization responsible<br />
for the promotion of Polish culture abroad and facilitating cultural<br />
co-operation with other countries. The Institute develops,<br />
maintains and updates an integrated data exchange system about<br />
Polish culture, to publish all information online in Polish and in<br />
a number of foreign languages. The Institutes creates and collects<br />
information and promotion materials – foreign-language<br />
publications, pictures, recordings, film, programs about literature,<br />
exhibition projects etc. and makes all these materials available to<br />
all interested individuals and organizations, particularly Polish<br />
Institute offices and Polish cultural organizations abroad.<br />
