Cinema City is the largest network of multiplex cinemas in Central
and Eastern Europe. The company develops this network under
two trade marks – Cinema City and IMAX ® , in Poland, the Czech
Republic, Hungary and Bulgaria. The corporation manages 508
screening rooms in 61 multiplex cinemas. In Europe, the network
owns 40 multiplexes with a total of 388 screening rooms. In
addition, the company runs seven 3D IMAX ® cinemas.
Between June 2004 and June 2006, Cinema City opened 11
multiplexes (including 3 IMAX ® ). Most newly opened cinemas are
located in Poland, which has recently become the major market
for the chain. Cinema City has venues in the following cities:
Warsaw, Krakow, Wroc∏aw, Ruda Âlàska, Poznaƒ, ¸ódê, Gdaƒsk,
Katowice, Toruƒ, Płock, Lublin, Rybnik and Cz´stochowa, with
plans to open new multiplexes in other cities.
Aside from box-office receipts, the company generates profit from
film distribution (Disney pictures), advertising and properties.
Cinema City recently acquired the Kinepolis cinema in Poznaƒ, the
largest multiplex in Europe in terms of area (56,000 sq. m).
Kinepolis has 18 screening rooms with a total of 7,500 seats.

The Helios Film Centre is a network of cinemas established in
1993 based on the cinemas located in Łódê. In 2006 the
company managed 13 cinemas (a total of 50 screening rooms,
with 13,500 seats, in 11 cities in Poland); the network includes:
* 40 screening rooms in multiplexes with an average number
of 260 seats per room;
* 10 screens in traditional cinemas;
with plans to open new complexes (e.g. in Wrocław, Białystok, and
Poznaƒ).
In 2007 Helios acquired 100% shares in another cinema
company, the Warsaw-based Kinoplex. As a result of this merger,
Helios now holds 23% of the multiplex market and is one of the
top three cinema chains in Poland. Currently the company
manages 18 cinemas, with a total of 85 screens and over 20,000
seats in 17 cities throughout Poland, including. Gniezno, Kalisz,
Katowice, Konin, Łódê (two cinemas), Olsztyn, Piotrków
Trybunalski, Radom, Rzeszów, Sosnowiec, Szczecin and
Włocławek. The Helios SA company co-operates closely with the
largest distribution companies, e.g. UIP, ITI, Warner Bros, SPI,
Imperial CinePix, and Forum Film.

The Multikino Sp. z o.o. company was established in 1996 as
a joint venture of two partners: UCI – one of the world’s leading
multiplex operators and the ITI Group – the leader on the Polish
media market. The company develops and manages a network of
multiplex cinemas with total number of 130 screening rooms. The
first Multikono multiplex, with 8 screening rooms was opened in
Poznaƒ in 1998. Then multiplexes in Warsaw, Zabrze, Gdaƒsk,
Krakow, Bydgoszcz, Szczecin, Elblàg and Rybnik followed.
Multikino also organizes concerts, cabaret shows, live broadcasting
for sport events on large screens and various special events, e.g.
for mothers with children. Multikino has two cinemas equipped
with digital projectors and digital 3D technology - one in Warsaw
(Złote Tarasy) and one in Poznaƒ (Stary Browar).
