It gathers numerous cinema organizations active in Silesia, including debating clubs, film directors, students and lecturers of the film department at the Silesian University. The organization houses two modern screening rooms and the Silesian Film Archive, constantly digitalizing and maintaining its collections. One of the most attractive initiatives run by the Centre is KINO.LAB, which presents film and animation productions of the 20th century, focusing mainly on independent and niche contemporary art and on the promotion of new forms of audiovisual expression. In 2006 the Foundation created Film Promotion Agency which promotes Polish documentary, animated and short films abroad. In 2007 it joined forces with the Polish Film Institute and started a new project named POLISH DOCS, dedicated only to documentary films. The Foundation organizes screening of Polish films and promotional events at key festivals and film markets. In the 2007 Krakow Film Foundation became involved in film distribution activity. It’s first feature-length documentary was released in Polish cinemas in October. 33

It also takes pride in a large collection of Polish and foreign film posters, together with a valuable collection of posters from the 1920s and 30s, film stills, equipment, set design projects, programmes, documents and mementos of renowned filmmakers The Museum houses also its own collection of films which have become the canon of Polish and Eastern European countries’ cinematography. The Museum’s cinema recently organized an exhibition devoted to the life and work of Krzysztof Kieslowski; the exhibition called “KieÊlowski – traces and memory” currently travels around the world.
