The <strong>Estonia</strong>n Chamber Choirs’ Union<br />
organises the festival-competitions<br />
for chamber choirs and ensembles<br />
every other year and <strong>in</strong> different corners<br />
of <strong>Estonia</strong>. There are usually<br />
about twenty participat<strong>in</strong>g choirs<br />
and ensembles.<br />

The participants from all over the<br />
country perform modern runic songs.<br />
The festival offers workshops and a<br />
fair. The workshops teach handicraft,<br />
weav<strong>in</strong>g rag carpets, dance, mouthorgan<br />
and many other th<strong>in</strong>gs. Visitors<br />
can enjoy birdsong at Türi lake<br />
together with an ornithologist. The<br />
chief performer at the even<strong>in</strong>g concert<br />
is Svjata Vatra.<br />

The festival revives <strong>Estonia</strong>n folk music<br />
through contemporary music projects.<br />
The competition-concert tests<br />

technical skills. The undertak<strong>in</strong>g promotes<br />
folk music <strong>in</strong> <strong>Estonia</strong>n music<br />
culture, provid<strong>in</strong>g l<strong>in</strong>ks betw<strong>ee</strong>n the<br />
old and the new. The patron of the<br />
festival is Ingrid Rüütel.
