Blacksmiths from <strong>Estonia</strong> and<br />
neighbour<strong>in</strong>g countries share their<br />
experience, heat the iron and forge<br />
various objects right <strong>in</strong> front of the<br />
visitors. Blacksmiths compete<br />
aga<strong>in</strong>st each other dur<strong>in</strong>g thr<strong>ee</strong> days,<br />
and exhibit their work. Also, workshops<br />
are organised for <strong>in</strong>terested<br />

Tall<strong>in</strong>n Old Town Days have b<strong>ee</strong>n<br />
organized s<strong>in</strong>ce 1982. The orig<strong>in</strong>s<br />
of this event are <strong>in</strong> the festivities of<br />
the townsfolk to celebrate the beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g<br />
of summer. The ma<strong>in</strong> character<br />
is our Old Town itself. Dur<strong>in</strong>g<br />
these days courtyards, squares,<br />
str<strong>ee</strong>ts, coff<strong>ee</strong>-shops and halls are<br />
fi lled with music, art, theatre and<br />
many other diverse events. One of<br />
the ma<strong>in</strong> aims of the Old Town<br />
Days <strong>2012</strong> is to rem<strong>in</strong>d people that<br />
beh<strong>in</strong>d any medieval house there<br />
was a courtyard closed to the eyes<br />
of a stranger. We reveal much that<br />
has b<strong>ee</strong>n hidden <strong>in</strong> the courtyards,<br />
revive some moments <strong>in</strong> their long<br />
history.
