We all remember a
famous quote by
Saint Augustine
where he said,
“The world is a book, and those
who don’t travel — read just one
page.” But we fail to understand
the depth of it, until when our
travels take us to new places, and
we meet new people.
Rajasthan is the place to
be, for winter travel in India,
but you need to plan your trip
beforehand to avoid last minute
disappointments. Although
Rajasthan has a variety of
offerings — one needs to be
sure what suits his/her interest
and choose accordingly, art,
culture, touristy travel, or
even architecture!
The capital city of Jaipur, is
India’s first ever planned city.
Designed and built in the mid
eighteenth century by Maharaja
Jai Singh II, Jaipur boasts of nice
wide roads, characteristic shaded
walkways along the busy streets,
strong aesthetic fortifications
around the old city and not to
forget architectural marvels
playing the role of essential spices
for a perfect recipe! While one
should make it a point to visit the
Hawa Mahal, City Palace, Jantar
Mantar and other attractions, a
visit to the erstwhile capital of
Amer just a few km away from
the city will complete your trip
to Jaipur. Amer is the same place
where Sanjay Leela Bhansali
shot his magnum opus Bajirao
Mastani! Jaipur is abuzz with many
old havelis or mansions converted
into heritage hotels, where you
will be treated like royalty.
As one embarks on his
journey down south, the next stop
is Pushkar, which enshrines the
only temple of Lord Brahma in
this whole wide world. Although
not a very tourist friendly city, you
may fall in love with the beautiful
temple complexes along the
lake Pushkar. Next up you drive
through the beautiful Pushkar
