Superhouse for the uber rich on
‘secret’ Mediterranean island
Developer says only 30 of such houses will be built to maintain exclusivity.
Architect Magnus Ström asks “if there are Superyachts, why not Superhouses?”

SUPERHOUSE IS both a brand and an ethos—a vision for what
is possible in contemporary residential architecture. Developer
Superhouse Property Group Ltd wants to create nothing but the most
exceptional houses in the world for the super-rich and just 30 of them
to maintain exclusivity.
The design plan for the houses came from Magnus Ström, founder
of Ström Architects, based in Lymington on the southern coast of
England. Inspiration for the Superhouse concept first came when
Ström worked next to a world-renowned naval architect. This was
when Superyachts were first brought to his attention and it raised the
questions: “Why couldn’t houses also reach the same heights of design
quality and workmanship?” and “Why do superyachts exist, but not
superhouses?”
In coming up with the design for these houses, the developer
wanted to focus solely on their creation without the distraction of other
industry sectors. They took a holistic route; not just for the design of the
Superhouse, but also taking into consideration the individual lifestyle
of the future owners.
When a potential buyer invests in a Superhouse, he or she is not
just buying the architectural design but also the thought and processes
behind the complementary elements that go into making the house
unique. Superhouses are designed to be the most beautiful, unique and
design-led houses possible.
